fī′brāts (FYE brate)
A prodrug; converted into ACTIVE metabolites once in contact with suitable medium : equal parts MD, wife, mother, daughter, global citizen. Trace amount of inactive metabolites with negligible effects may sometimes be detectable : angry woman, impatient driver, hopeless daughter-in-law.
Optimal dosage on a case-to-case basis. Dose titration advised for the fibrate-naive. In most cases a once daily dosing is recommended, either before or after meal.
Displays synergism with Marmite and caffeine-based beverages.
Human studies have confirmed its safety in pregnancy and lactation. No dose adjustment necessary in renal and hepatic impairment.
Use with caution in individuals with caffeine addiction and hypersensitivity to free speech.
